Testing can provide useful information when you're concerned about mold, but different testing methods tell us different things.
I primarily use DNA dust-based testing and targeted surface sampling rather than relying on conventional room-air testing as a stand-alone way to evaluate a home.
I've repeatedly worked with clients who had visible mold, musty odors, water damage, or potential mold-related health symptoms despite having previously received a “normal” air test.
Mold doesn't grow in the air. It grows on surfaces and in dust.
A brief room-air test is a snapshot of what happens to be airborne at one particular time and location. It doesn't tell us what may have settled into dust, grown on surfaces, or remained hidden elsewhere in the home.
That's why I primarily use dust testing and targeted surface sampling when they're appropriate. Targeted air testing may also be useful in specific situations, such as investigating a suspected hidden source or wall cavity.
Testing Options
✦ DNA Dust Tests — $120-$400+
ERMI, HERTSMI-2, and other DNA-based dust analyses
✦ Targeted Surface Testing — $60 per sample
Tape-lift or swab sampling for areas with suspected mold and/or water damage
✦ Targeted Air Testing — $60 per sample
Available when there is a specific reason to investigate airborne contamination or a suspected concealed source
✦In-home testing includes a brief visual review of the areas relevant to testing. This is not a comprehensive whole-home mold inspection.

I will check in with you before the end of each week to see if you want to continue. No long-term commitment required.
Email-Only Support — $85/week

About My Approach & Process
I also love supporting my clients in navigating the complexities of moving out of mold, from how to decide what to keep, how to successfully decontaminate your things, and the most efficient way to go about the process. Mold moves are one of the most stressful things to go through, and I know this so well as I have been through many of them myself, so I aim to compassionately guide you in simplifying your move as much as possible.
Of course it is also vitally important that when you move out of a moldy environment, you are moving into a safe, mold free/ low mold home. I also offer expert advice on handling the rental or home buying process so you can feel confident that your next home will be a place you and your family can heal and feel safe in.
